There are a lot of tools you can use to help you. And since YouTube is the #1 way people experience and search for new music, having a lyric video is a great way to share your new great song. Plus you can monetize your YouTube channel and create a new revenue stream for yourself!

https://wittenlab.com/superstring/  This is great for beginners, the free tool lets you try it out and make small videos, the paid version is only $19.99. you can’t add your own backgrounds, but you can customize the colours and the fonts and there are several styles to choose from. If you have some compositing experience (or know someone who does) you can layer it on top of video footage or a slide show to make it extra cool. They have a few videos on their site that show this technique.

Lyric TV

This subscription site allows you to make a lyric video using their templates. visit  http://lyric.tv/ for more info. You need to have and be able to use flash for this option, so not best for beginners, though they claim it is very straight forward and you probably have a friend with some flash skills!

iMovie

https://www.apple.com/mac/imovie/ Apple’s built in movie editor has lots of themes you can choose from built in. each theme has transitions, graphics, titles. I was just playing with a dance track I co-wrote recently and in about 15 minutes I had the intro and first two verses done in about 15 minutes. I just used one of the built in templates, and types the lines into the graphic supers that come preloaded. I downloaded a bunch of pictures (royalty free from Pixabay.com a great source for images for songwriters working on a budget (i.e. $0!)) I’ll work on a tutorial for this over the next week or so!
